The Fenn Treasure & The Subaru Man

If you spend any time in Montana and go anywhere people gather, you can’t help but run into interesting people. The magical allure of Big Sky Country draws visionary dreamers and crazies' from every corner of the planet. Including a treasure hunter we will call the The Subaru Man, from parts unknown, he lived out of his Subaru, had been for some time, likely years, completely broke but convinced he knew exactly where the famous Fenn Treasure was located, right in West Yellowstone, Montana. Hot travel tip, sit at the bar and eat dinner, even if you don’t have a drink, this is where the dreamers and crazies’ sit. People with alternative lifestyles fascinate me, I fully appreciate simple living and a blind pursuit of passion, so I engaged him into further conversation. My encounter with The Subaru Man was after the treasure was reported as found in 2020, which he fully believed to be an attempt to stop the fanatical pursuit of the treasure. One whos’ history included the deaths of five people. It is not a completely illogical idea, he believed he was being tracked and watched by the people responsible. He was so convinced, and his gut passion around his belief was contagious, it radiated from his being, my free spirit was ready to go chase after it with him, but my logic ultimately prevailed. I ate my dinner and talked to to him for what felt like hour or two over a couple of cold beers, well he talked, I mostly just listened…

Visionary dreamer or just crazy? It is hard to tell the difference sometimes, maybe there is no difference

Life is certainly more interesting when there are buried treasures to be found.
